Application

The Institute runs from May28th- June 28th, 2024 on the Skidmore College campus. We seek to bring together a diverse groups of Skidmore students, faculty, community members and Visiting Fellows- professionals from a wide range of experiences, disciplines, and mediums for a rigorous creative and intellectual experience where everyone will be inspired, learn from each other, and grow in their practices.

We welcome all mediums, but this year we are prioritizing applications from artists working in photo and audio.

+ Community and feedback from a renowned group of multidisciplinary artists/storytellers/documentarians

+ $2500 honorarium

+ Travel stipend of up to $500

+ Public presentation/exhibition opportunities

+ Access to production equipment

+ Room and board for the duration of the Institute

+ Workspace access to Skidmore facilities

Applicants must have a non-fiction-based practice and propose a non-fiction-based project.

+ Applicants must have an interest in teaching and learning.

+ Accepted fellows are expected to fully engage with institute events and be in residence for its duration. If a fellow is not in residence for the full institute, their stipend will be reduced.

+ Prepare one seminar on a work that has inspired you for the institute participants.

+ Engage in project feedback sessions once a week for two hours.

+ Engage in other seminars and workshops held for the institute over the course of the month.

+ A completed application, which includes a work sample that demonstrates your experience in non-fiction creative work and two references.
