Students enrolled in Skidmore College’s Spring 2018 Public History Course at work in DocLab and at a guest lecture.

Ari Bogom-Shanon is a senior at Skidmore College majoring in American Studies and minoring in Art. She is glad to have been able to take a history course at Skidmore before graduating, and excited about the possibilities of public history.

Chris Cocchi is a student at Skidmore College who is majoring in Psychology and minoring in both Computer Science and History. Thanks to an inspirational teacher in the 7th grade, Chris has had a passion for history and has not looked back since. Outside of schoolwork, one can also find him playing Quidditch and riding a scooter.

 

Jamerly de la Cruz is a senior at Skidmore College majoring in Anthropology and minoring in Education. She sees everything as history either of the past or making history for the future and focuses her thought process on how to reconstruct history so that the voices of all are remembered and heard. Being enrolled in a public history course has allowed her the understand the different ways to display history and she hopes to continue to make history accessible for the public.

Sophia Eberhardt

Josh Karen is a senior history major at Skidmore College, originally from Philadelphia, PA. His passion for history lives in finding the links between things centuries apart and analyzing them, and seeing how cycles and trends emerge throughout history. Studying public history this semester, he has been able to work with how history bridges academia and the public, and the spaces in between, and hopes to continue to explore how history and academic research can be connected to the public sphere.

Hongqiao “Ted” Li is a senior at Skidmore College majoring in history and minoring in French. He is interested in public history and gained a lot of experience from the project. He hopes that this video can help more audiences learn about the history of civil rights movement.

Zoe Ousouljoglou is a rising Junior at Skidmore College. A double major of History and Classics, her interests revolve around the museum and the creation of narratives that influence the world today

Sam Register is a sophomore at Skidmore College. He studies history and political science. He is very interested in using history to educate the public and hopes to keep being involved in public history projects

James Sutherland was born and raised in Boston, MA, and is a junior at Skidmore College. His interests include museums, historical sites, and military history.
